Header and navigation
Your header is the map of your store. A clear menu is one of the most useful things you can set up: it helps shoppers find what they want, and it quietly reduces the questions that reach your inbox.
Build your menu
Section titled “Build your menu”Menus are created in your Shopify admin, and the theme displays them.
- Go to Online Store → Navigation.
- Edit your main menu, or create a new one.
- Add links to your collections, your key products, and your pages.
- Back in the theme editor, open the Header section and choose which menu to show.
Name links the way shoppers think
Section titled “Name links the way shoppers think”Use plain words for menu items. “Shop all”, “New in”, and “About” are easier to scan than clever names. If a shopper has to guess what a link leads to, they are more likely to give up and leave.
Arrange the header
Section titled “Arrange the header”The Header section gives you room to arrange the pieces that matter most:
- Your logo and where it sits.
- The menu, and how drop-downs open.
- Quick access to search and the cart.
- An account link, if you offer customer accounts.
Preview the header on a phone as well as a desktop. The theme adapts the menu for small screens on its own, so your main job is simply to keep the link list tidy.
Help shoppers search
Section titled “Help shoppers search”If you sell more than a handful of products, turn on search in the header. Many people head straight for it, and a visible search box often leads them to the right product faster than browsing does.
