Choose a theme style

A theme style is a complete look that the designer has already assembled for you: colors, typography, shapes, and spacing, all tuned to work together. Backline ships with five of them, so instead of building a design from scratch, you start from one that already feels finished and adjust it to your brand.

Switching styles changes the visual character in one move and keeps all of your content in place. It is the fastest way to find the right feel for your store.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize.
  2. Open Theme settings and choose your theme style.
  3. Click Save.

Applying a style sets your colors and typography to that look. Anything you customize afterwards becomes your own and stays put, so you can treat a style as a starting point and then make it unmistakably yours.

Bold and editorial. High-contrast black on white, an acid-bright accent, hard rules, and oversized headlines give Lathe the confidence of a design magazine. It is the flagship style and a strong default. A natural fit for fashion, design, print, and brands that want to make a statement.

Dark and technical. A near-black canvas, a signal-bright green accent, and sharp, chamfered edges give Patchbay an engineered, high-energy feel. Well suited to tech, audio, gear, and streetwear, or any brand with a modern, utilitarian edge.

Warm and handmade. Soft cream tones, earthy terracotta and sage, and gently rounded corners make Skep feel inviting and crafted. A comfortable home for food, wellness, home goods, and makers who want their store to feel personal.

Refined and elegant. Gold on a deep, near-black background, fine hairline details, and graceful serif type with generous spacing give Lapidary a quiet luxury. Made for jewelry, beauty, and premium goods that deserve a considered, boutique presentation.

Quiet and minimal. Monochrome ink on paper, no loud color, and plenty of space let your products and photography do the talking. Gallery-like and calm, it suits ceramics, art, minimal fashion, and any brand that values restraint.

Each style has a reference page listing the exact homepage sections and settings its demo store uses, so you can rebuild the same layout with your own products: Lathe, Patchbay, Skep, Lapidary, and Volm.
